The Power of Music as a Motivator

Welcome to Motivated by Music, my newest blog. As a motivator for the past 25+ years, I have personally found that music is one of my greatest motivators. I have used music as a motivator in many ways - sometimes as a background for working in my office to keep me going, sometimes as background during meditation for peace, sometimes for getting me up and moving when I'm working on a difficult project, sometimes during workouts, or simply to relax and unwind. When I'm in the car, in the office, in the house, in the gym, or anywhere at all - music is a powerful motivator for me.

In my work as coach and motivator, I'm starting to see the benefits of music as a motivator for my clients. So this new blog is intended to be a place where we can interact about the many benefits of listening to good music in order to stay focused and on task and rejuvenated. I'm here to share what's motivating me at the moment and welcome your input as we go along.

Sometimes it's the lyrics, sometimes it's the beat, sometimes the sound itself; however, some of the songs that motivate me the most have less than positive words. So to me, whatever kind of music provides motivation, take it and enjoy it for the results it brings.

Some of the music that currently motivates me is listed below. I absolutely love each of the songs listed below and find them to be incredibly motivating to me personally. I hope you find them motivational as well. As you can see, my taste in music is quite eclectic.

  • Mercy by Duffy
  • Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis
  • Pocketful of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield
  • Do I Move You by Nina Somone
  • Living Proof by Kelis
  • Busy Being Fabulous by The Eagles
  • Playgirl by Ladytron

  • Rehab by Amy Winehouse
  • Days Like This by Van Morrison
